Haves and Have Nots

I have not been here for quite a while.

I have not been taking many photographs.

I have not learned one new thing about my camera a month as planned.

I have not been looking after my health and fitness this year.

I have not been well.

I have not particularly cared.

I have changed jobs again.

I have started getting organised.

I have started writing more.

I have successfully finished my first ever semester of University.

I have started exercising again.

I have started meal planning again.

I have stood up and brushed myself off more times than I care to have to.

I have not let it get me down.

I will not let it stop me.

I am content.

  1. Hi Keren, good to hear things are on the up and you’re content. Well done on finishing your first semester of Uni!! Hope you enjoy your semester break and take time to relax. What are you studying? I find it really hard to stay on top of the “basic” things like eating healthy and exercise when I’m studying…and working. Have found this term especially hard after Kokoda, so am looking forward to my break after exams…time to re-examine, relax and find some new goals to focus on. All the best xx

    • Goodness, Kokoda would have been quite the interruption! Definitely time to relax and refocus 🙂 The content feeling kind of caught me by surprise, there are still a lot of ‘what ifs’ floating around still but none of them are causing me any anxiety so I’m just gonna let them float around for a while longer.
I’m studying Librarianship and Business Records Management (finally taking steps to get away from law), kind of want to go back and kick my 17yo self in the rear end for not thinking of it at the time but, better late than never right? 🙂

      • Definitely better late than never 🙂 And, I guess that’s what life is all about? Figuring things out along the way…I know I’m still figuring things out…and hoping that my studies now are what I want to do!
Good to hear the what if’s aren’t causing you anxiety…understand that feeling all too well. Take care, Ali xx

    • Thanks Lorraine, it was a bit of a struggle given everything else that’s been going on this year but it looks like I’m on track to pass so I’ll take it 🙂 Unfortunately ‘not well’ may just be something I have to learn to live with … don’t really want to go into here yet but time (and tests) will tell …

    • Thank you 🙂 Given how much is ‘up in the air’ still at the moment, the feeling of contentment is surprising and comforting (if that makes sense).

  2. I haven’t been well either. Here’s to feeling better – cheers. And congrats on university! That’s terrific of you. I almost wish I could go back and get another degree because I loved my undergraduate college so much.

    • I’ve wondered at your silence, hope you’re feeling better soon. I still have my fingers crossed that I actually pass this first semester … finishing is one thing, finishing well may yet turn out to be something else entirely!
